cross-platform tray app that scrobbles your now playing track to last.fm, listenbrainz, libre.fm, and discord

what’s dotsong?

dotsong is a tiny cross-platform tray app that grabs your currently playing track and scrobbles it to last.fm, libre.fm, and any listenbrainz-compatible API. it also pushes the song to your discord rich presence.

it supports any player that integrates with the OS media center; on macOS that means mostly anything, including Apple Music, Spotify, and the rest of them via the private MediaRemote framework.

dotsong’s architecture involves a whole lot of waiting, allowing it to use essentially 0% CPU and only 30-40 MB memory while idle, which is basically nothing on any modern computer.

why

good, flexible scrobblers for macOS seem to be few and far between, and never support all of the services i use.

status

dotsong is currently in alpha. it works and is stable, but it’s still pretty incomplete — see the todo list on the github repo (thrzl/dotsong) for what’s left.

the code and full README are located here (thrzl/dotsong).
